Frequently Asked Questions

WTF is a doula anyway?

By definition, a Doula is a woman, typically without formal obstetric training, who is employed to provide guidance and support to a pregnant woman during labor. A doula, also known as a birth companion, birth coach or post-birth supporter, is a non-medical companion who supports a birthing woman by providing continuous care before, during, or after childbirth in the form of education, physical support, emotional support, and advocacy.
Basically, we are here to ROCK YOUR BIRTH!

By when would I need to hire you as my Doula?

Before or as soon as you find out you're expecting, or trying to conceive! The sooner you book me, the more I can help you navigate your pregnancy journey. I typically do not accept birth clients after 36 weeks unless there are special circumstances.

What are your policies for COVID-19?

Currently, most prenatal and postpartum services are being offered virtually. Labor prep, birth, and immediate postpartum visits are in-person with the proper mask, gloves, social distancing practices in place per your comfort level. I will be re-opening in-person group classes in June 2022.

What is the cost of hiring a Doula?

My Doula packages for prenatal, labor and birth vary and are customized based on your needs. I do offer sliding scale packages for out-of-pocket clients.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, I currently accept the following Medicaid insurance plans: United Healthcare, Simply, Molina, Aetna, Florida Community Care. All, some or none of your doula services may be covered depending on your provider. I am currently not able to accept private insurance plans. All clients are subject to an intake fee regardless of coverage.

Do you work in hospitals?

Absolutely! I work in all birth environments - home, birthing centers, and hospitals. Please make sure your OBGYN and hospital supports your desire to have a doula. (Due to COVID-19, not all hospitals may allow doulas to be present)

Do you offer in-home postpartum services?

I no longer offer in-home postpartum packages for day or overnight care. However, I still offer postpartum yoni steaming and placenta services for active doula clients.

Do you have a backup doula?

Yes, I have a two backup doulas you will meet in our work together! But in my years as a Doula I have never had to use my backups yet 🙂

What cities do you cover?

I offer virtual support to anywhere in the world. If you are in South Florida, please contact me with your location to confirm in-person support. Typically, I work in Miami-Dade and Broward.

Do you support medical cannabis use?

Yes. I am a member of Birthworkers for Medical Cannabis and support medical cannabis patients.
